How do I use the Chart for trading in TradingView?

How to Set Up and Update Charts in TradingView:

Open TradingView:

Visit TradingView on a web browser or open the TradingView app.

Search for a Market/Instrument:

  • Click the search bar at the top.

  • Enter the name or symbol of the asset (e.g., ES for S&P 500 futures).

  • Select your preferred market from the list.

🔹Choose a Chart Type:

  • Click the chart panel settings icon (⚙) or the chart type dropdown.

  • Select from Candlestick, Bar, Line, Heikin-Ashi, Renko, or other chart types.

🔹Adjust the Timeframe:

  • Click the timeframe dropdown (above the chart).

  • Choose from 1-minute, 5-minute, hourly, daily, weekly, etc.

🔹 Customizing the Chart Appearance:

  1. Access Settings

    • Click the Settings (⚙) icon on the chart.

    • Select "Appearance" from the menu.

  2. Modify Chart Elements

    • Colors: Adjust the colors for candles, indicators, and background.

    • Gridlines: Customize the visibility and style of gridlines.

    • Background: Change the chart’s background color for better visibility.

    • Price Scales: Modify the appearance of price scales (left/right) to suit your preferences.

This allows you to personalize your chart's look and feel.

🔹 Updating and Customizing Charts in TradingView

1. Adding Indicators & Overlays

  • Step 1: Click Indicators (located on the top toolbar).

  • Step 2: Search and add tools such as:

    • Moving Averages

    • RSI (Relative Strength Index)

    • MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence)

    • Bollinger Bands

    • Volume Profile, etc.

2. Drawing Tools & Trendlines

  • Step 1: Use the left toolbar to access drawing tools.

  • Step 2: Draw key elements like:

    • Trendlines

    • Fibonacci retracements

    • Support and resistance levels

    • Annotations

3. Saving Your Chart Layout

  • Step 1: Click "Save Layout" (located on the top-right corner) to preserve your custom chart settings.

4. Refreshing the Chart

  • Step 1: Click the "refresh button" or press:

    • Ctrl + R (Windows)

    • Cmd + R (Mac)

This reloads the live data.

5. Switching Between Multiple Charts

  • Step 1: Click "Select Layout" to display multiple charts on a single screen.

  • Step 2: Use the Watchlist to quickly switch between different assets.
